At Horizon we believe that church should be simple, so the best way is to connect is to show up at one of our gatherings, or give us a call. Come on in, grab a coffee and share some time together with ordinary people who are striving to better know and become like Christ.
We have two major ways to connect and engage in community. We seek to connect with both God and others, and also to build those relationships.
Each of the Community Groups has its own flavor and location. These are our main place and time to connect with others and engage in true community with an opportunity to commune with God and help others along the way. Our gatherings are comprised of a time to connect through celebration and sharing of what God is doing in our daily lives among our community. We enjoy our Sunday Gatherings by communing with God all together through music, prayer, conversation, and a teaching time. The beginning of our gathering includes people of all ages, with time specifically for children to interact in the gathering. The second half of the gathering, the children have an opportunity to be involved in their own class with caring adults. Click on Horizon Kids for more information on our kid’s ministry.
Beyond the ongoing connecting and community with God and others, there is Christ commission to share His love, life, truth and grace with others. As apprentices of Christ who have gotten to know and been transformed by Christ, something happens that should overflow into every area of our life. This happens in a variety of ways: by living lives that glorify Christ through both the attitude we have (being) and through actions (doing) we carry out the commission of Christ.
At Horizon we want to be intentional about providing specific ways for Christ to overflow out of us and into the lives of others. Our Ministry Teams provide that opportunity corporately. These groups are usually united around a single purpose, such as feeding the homeless, caring for the elderly, transforming the lives of the widowed and fatherless, and many more. Horizon Kids are not the future. Horizon Kids are TODAY. RIGHT NOW !!!
One of the most impacting times in a person's life of faith in Christ can happen before 18. Alarmingly, many of those same people walk away from their faith after that. This is a significant call to see our children grow a desire for God that reaches deep for the journey ahead. Start early.
Besides our mom assisted nursery, our Sunday Gatherings currently host 2 groups that assist our kids in developing their faith in Christ;
4-7 year old and 8-11 year olds.
Community groups also provide arrangements for children. In addition, our fifth Sundays recognize the importance of keeping the family together in our group gatherings by shaping that weekly gathering to be even more family oriented.
Horizon has the desire to work with kids and help them grow. A fun loving spirit and gentle hands comes with the territory. We also know that the most influential person in your child's life is YOU. As a result, we are working to developing ways to help you become a true spiritual leader to your kids. Horizons mission statement is to be a community of Christ for the Journey ahead. In other words we all have a past, but we can’t live there. The book of Hebrews tells us to “Make level paths for your feet,” so that the lame may not be disabled, but rather healed (Heb. 12:13)”. Horizon is about meeting people where they are at and then moving ahead, closer to Christ likeness. We do that by living a Christ like lifestyle. By BEING like Christ and DOING the things that Christ did, we are able to move ahead in our journey toward His likeness.
This happens through…
CONNECTING: Establishing a living, growing, personal relationship with Jesus
COMMUNTY: Engaging in Christ-like relationships with all people and sharing
our grace stories with all God sends our way
COMMUNION: Understanding God’s image in our lives and pursuing an
intimate, in-depth relationship with our creator through His word and Spirit.
COMMISSION: Investing all we have in the world-wide mission of Christ by
intentionally being Christ and doing the things that Jesus did.
These things should naturally permeate our homes, neighborhoods, workplaces and literally every circle of influence that we have. By existing to glorify God by encouraging, equipping and empowering every believer in apprenticeship to Jesus we hope provide every man, woman and child in our circles of influence with various real life opportunities to embrace or reject Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord.
